Tereza Scheibova https://terezascheibova.com/Linear-baths The modernisation of the railway system causes optimalisation, that has a big influence especially on the regional rails. Due to the modernisation of the railway system in Czech republic, the rails are being optimalised. The optimalisation causes, especially in the small regions, a minimal use of the former railway stations. Their state is dismal and the future uncertain. Some of the objects are already ruined, the others are being slowly devastated. The goal of the diploma is to map the current state of the railway buildings and to find a conceptual solution for their future. cities are often developed by megaloman projects such as aquaparks and shoppingmalls outside the city. The question was, if its possible to create such things in a serie of smaller scale objects which will respect the old structure of the city in more logical and sensible way. Goal of this project is to find a city, a site and a tyypoligy and react with an object- building. Polička Subject of my study was to research small typoligies. To analyse function and scale. It was not specifies, if I should create small objects or structures. I studied typology of a smal city, Polička. Medieval city with a rich history, with its medieval citywalls which are still bounding the center together. These walls were also for me the boarded of the study. Polička city center is made of eight basic parts. Of the city walls, that are bounding the city together, of the towers, that used to be protective, that is why they enable the view outside the city, of the buildings, that are creating blocks, of the squares, which are the only open public places, of courtyards, that are devided between the owners, of streets, that are intersecting the whole city, of shelters build by the garden owners itself to have a place where to spend the evenings, and of fences, which are creating boarders between the gardens in the courtyards. Last supper The space in front of the city walls is made by two stone objects, that are build on the former zwinger. A small street is passing between them. The objects are as city walls itself, if you look from the lake towards the city, they are basically invisible. Its two horizontal objects, consisting of a public toilet, snack bar and a public space for barbeque. All these parts should be mainly used by to inhabitants of Polička. They can borrow the barge here and go for a lake trip, bring their own food, have a picnic. In front of the church Space in front of the church is defined by a wall and a square. The wall follows the street line, completes the street and defines the square. Piazetta, place that is traditional and during the times disappeared. There is a square formed in front of the church. The wall consists of few niches. This form raises from traditional building features of the surrounding. But you can use them as a shelter when you wait for your bus to arrive. Maternity hospital Polička is famous for the church wall, where Bohuslav Martinů (czech classical music composer) was born. I tried to continue in the tower tradition, that surrounds the whole Polička city. All the towers allow you to look outside the city, but not on the city itself. I am creating a new tower that allows you to see the city, the historic core. Its open for public, with windows without glass, unlockable. For mothers The free site at the corner of one of the building blocks in the northwest part of the city center was tempting to be used. In Polička, there is just few free places, which could be used for spending free time. The structured comes from the shelter system, which is so popular in Polička. Its an outside open object that provides a shelter mothers and small children. Place, where mothers and children can meet, communicate and exchange their llife experiences. Stage Half of the Polička city center area are the coourtyards. These places are beautiful, secret, hidden. Not many of them are public. They are owned by people who are living in the houses around. Every inhabitant closed his garden with fences. I suggest an easy approach, so called ActionZ, when the neightbours discuss between one and other and cultivate their closest surroundings. suburban village with a close connection to Liberec and Jablonec. Due to its mountains, the village is linear and there is one main road going through the whole village. At the center of the road is my site. I am creating a square defined by three public buildings: a daily stacionary for elderly people, kindergarten and a public hall. The building are coresponding with the traditional mountain architecture, when there is always one stable part of the building made by stone that created the center of the house. The construction follows this principle, its only transfered to a linear form which is followed by the other part made of wood. The houses are still traditional, but also modern. The functions opf tthe buildings are for now stable, coming from the actual needs of the village, but can be easily transformed into something else. The square is defined by these three buildings, by a tree, local water pump and a road. The square is one of the most important part of the project. Its surface should be considered as one of the bases. It should be understood as another living space, that intersects all the surrounded function. These functions are defined from an analysis of the actual needs of the village. There used to be a traditional jewish compact block of buildings. The project follows the shape of the historic compact block, defines the square with a currently disfunctional fountain, the courtyard follows traditional Jewish buildings. Exterior conforms to the historic surroundings. The grid and the rectangular layout of the reading rooms corresponds with the interiors of the panel houses. Every visitor finds his favourite atmosphere where he wants to enjoy his book. Whether it is the monastery chapel or the living room. There used to be a little synagoge with a little street next to it, the project defines the street again, the house surrounds the street, enables to see the rest of the synagoge, connects the daily use with the temporary, brings up the socialistic courtyard Mikulov is bound up with Jewish history. I chose a dysfunctional place with unexploided potential and historical context for my project. I tried to create a house a form of which could supplement and return the original character of the Jewish build-up area, supported social and cultural life and improved the neighbourghood. I picked up the threads of Dolní synogogue and tried to renew public life on Lazéňské squere and Templová street. I started with the historical context and present state of the neighbourhood, so I chose to create a Jewish center with a nursery. A small bench at the end of the pavilion bids you come forward. The space here inverts on itself and transforms into a low wide environ. With an air of expectation you walk down slowly into it. You take the seat. Your eyes now fully adjusted to the darkness, you observe the intense streaks of light in the darkness, shape changing, mood altering, atmosphere inducing. Comfortable in the tranquil surroundings you sit totally motionless and calm. You wait in tranquil darkness unperturbed, totally at ease in your environment. More surprises now follow. Reclining backwards on your seat, you exert pressure on the wall and instantaneously the hinged wall opens up and a new vista emerges. Natural light comes pouring in. Once again your eyes acclimatise, albeit slowly, to the sudden incoming torrent of light and you are greeted with a framed view of the daylight sky above. 2014 Rampart that devides, but connects Branik is a quater outside of the city center in Prague. With the public transport its easy to reach the center in about 15 minutes. It used to be an old village before it became part of Prague. The site takes place on the mail Branik road, where all the public facilities are. The most frequented public place is the main street and the former brewery takes place right in the middle. Nowadays, the brewery, which also used to be a closter is abandoned. The concept of the project was to create a new public place, which would be open for everyone who lives in Branik and also to create a place, which would offer some other activity than just gathering. The closter used to be formed by four wings, but in the 50s, during the socialist era, they put one of the wings down and build a big prefabricated house. I decided to close the old structure again, but in the way that it actually connects the two places between one and other. The form is rigid, to not attract more attention than needed. Nová architektura ve stávající struktuře ukazuje novou perspektivu. Používáme klasické architektonické prvky - rastr, plocha a amfiteátr. Pracujeme se zářivým světlem a hlubokou tmou. Vložená konstrukce utváří v pavilonu dva světy - jak formálně, tak pocitově. V prvním světě vnímá návštěvník prostor z bezprostřední blízkosti, uvědomuje si každou část konstrukce, cítí tektoniku místa. Ve druhém pociťuje volnost, světlo a intenzitu prostředí. Spodní část konstrukce symbolizuje pilíř vzdělání. Návštěvník prochází jasně definovaným rastrem danosti, svoji cestu si však volí sám. Otočné panely mění dispozici prostoru po průchodu každého jednotlivce, divák se tak stává součástí procesu změny. Dochází k interakci mezi jednotlivými návštěvníky a prostor se proměňuje na základě vzájemné vstřícnosti a ochoty kooperace návštěníků. Perspektivní schodiště vtahuje do světla. Nevím, kam jdu, a nevím, jak se vypořádám se svou zkušeností. Výstup na horní platformu je vydechnutím, které návštěvníka přenese do volného prostoru. V amfiteátru se jeho pohled na prostor mění, vnímá intenzivní místo v odlišné, nové perspektivě.
